West Bengal is one of the leading states in the country in terms of its quantum, quality and range of agro and horticulture produces which are amenable for processing. Several leading domestic and multinational companies have already set-up their processing plants in the state or sourcing processed food from the state. They include Pepsico and its subsidiary, Frito Lay (India), Nestles’, Dabur, Keventor Agro, Bisk Farms, Bengal Nestor and Sukhjit Starch Industries. More units are being set-up, some with direct French and Italian assistance. But there is still scope for many more units to be set-up in the state.

ICICI Winfra has been deeply committed to help the state in its efforts to attract more investments in this agro processing sector. Towards this end, the Company has been studying and quantifying the entire range of produce available in the state and to pinpoint specific investment opportunities. ICICI Winfra has also helped the state prepare an action plan (Task Force Report) to help attract investment in this sector.
