In Information Technology, West Bengal is
thus fast becoming a sought after destination because of its
large pool of talent. In 2001-2002, 65 % of the total intake
of students in Engineering & Technology Colleges here
have been for IT and related subjects.
Add to it the fact that in a sector which
has high training costs, the attrition rate of IT personnel
here, at around 10%, is much lower than the national average
of around 20%.
