• North South Corridor Development Project (now known as West Bengal Economic Corridor Project): completed

The project was for building a multi model Transport Corridor, with suitable support infrastructure in the state of West Bengal. ADB funded the study for development of this project.

ICICI-WINFRA’s role in the project:

• IWIN was the executing agency on behalf of State Government for the study - First time in India that a non government agency has been appointed executing agency on behalf of government
• provided strategic inputs, infrastructure support, data and coordination support to the consortium of international consultants
• Was instrumental in convincing ADB to take up this project & ADB has provided USD 1 mn as grant for this study
• The Project is now under implementation with funding from ADB

• Reclamation of North Canal System of Kolkata: under implementation
  The project is to reclaim the 43-Km long North Canal System connecting river Hugli in North Kolkata to river Bidhyadhari at Kultigang, east of Kolkata for navigation purposes and operation of passenger, cargo and leisure vessels in the canal. The canal reestablishes a much shorter waterways route between Kolkata and Bangladesh and the north east.
• Details of the Project are as follows:
• Client : Transport Dept through WBTIDC
• Total Project Cost : Rs 60 crore, consisting of two parts: first, dredging & repair of canal and then a transport infrastructure and vessel operation project, being developed as a BOT project.
• ICICI-WINFRA’s role in the project:
  • Prepared the pre-feasibility report
  • After acceptance of this report by GoWB, prepared detailed Techno-Economic Feasibility Report in association with British Waterways, UK, a crown company which has reclaimed and now operates 25000 km of similar canal in UK.
  • First part nearing completion with government funding. Second part, the BOT Project is now being offered to prospective private sector companies
  • Advertisement seeking EOIs released, shortlisting of applicants based on the EOIs received, under progress.

• ICICI Winfra has also prepared with its own resources Project Feasibility Reports and self-financing schemes (without any budgetary support) for the following projects, which were later not pursued by the concerned departments:

• 8-km bypass road on SH1, Diamond Harbor Road at Amtala for PWD
• Flyovers and under-passes on Kazi Nazrul Islam Avenue (VIP Road) for PWD
• 6-km access road for MCPL in Haldia for the Haldia Development Authorit

  • The project involves Field Study for existing Road alignment, Study of Local Demography, Soil & Materials for Road Works. On the basis of that Design of the Proposed Road is made. The project also includes Finalization of BOQ and Estimation of Total Cost

• Setting up a Truck Terminal near Bongaon: completed   
  Truck Terminal is proposed to be set up to facilitate the transport of cargo through the Bangladesh-India border land check post at Petrapole.
